Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 June 2026 · Version 1.0
This policy applies to United States residents and explains, separately and specifically, how Clearo handles consumer health data, including under the Washington My Health My Data Act (MHMDA) and Nevada SB370. It supplements our main Privacy Policy.
This document is provided for transparency and is not legal advice. Where a mandatory right under your state law differs from this policy, your state law prevails.
Who we are
Clearo is a product of Wireside Studios Ltd (England & Wales, company No. 17139269), which is the entity responsible for consumer health data collected through Clearo. Contact: hello@getclearo.com.
What consumer health data we collect
"Consumer health data" means personal information that identifies your past, present or future physical or mental health. In Clearo this includes:
- Body metrics and profile you enter: height, weight, date of birth/age, biological sex, activity level, goals.
- Health focus areas you choose (e.g. heart, blood sugar, gut health).
- Your food log, weigh-ins, and the meal/label photos you take.
- If you connect Apple Health: activity, weight, height and age read (read-only) with your permission.
Sources & how we collect it
We collect this data directly from you when you use the app, and, only if you connect it, from Apple Health. We do not buy consumer health data about you from third parties.
Why we use it
We use consumer health data only to provide Clearo to you: to build and adjust your plan and targets, read the nutrition of foods you log, show your progress, and keep the app working. We use it for nothing else.
Consent
We collect and use your consumer health data with your consent, which you give by entering it in the app. We do not collect it for purposes beyond providing the service, and we would seek separate, specific consent before any new purpose. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the data or your account, or by contacting us.
Who we share it with, and our no-sale commitment
We do not sell your consumer health data, and we do not share it for advertising or with data brokers. Because we do not sell it, we do not seek or rely on any "valid authorization" to sell under the MHMDA.
We share it only with the service providers ("processors") that operate Clearo on our behalf, under contracts that restrict them to that purpose: for example Supabase (secure hosting, EU), Google (AI reading of label/plate photos), and Apple (Sign in with Apple, subscriptions, Apple Health). The full list is in our Privacy Policy. We may disclose data if required by law.
Your rights
If you are a US resident (including under Washington MHMDA and Nevada SB370), you have the right to:
- Confirm whether we collect, share or sell your consumer health data and access it;
- Withdraw consent to its collection and sharing;
- Delete your consumer health data;
- A list of third parties with whom we have shared it; and
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these, email hello@getclearo.com. You may use an authorized agent. We will respond within the timeframe your law requires. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response; you may also complain to your state Attorney General.
Retention & security
We keep consumer health data only while your account exists; you can export or delete it in-app at any time. It is encrypted in transit and at rest and access is restricted. See the Privacy Policy for details.
