Scan a barcode
Packaged food, checked against Open Food Facts. Verified per-pack figures in a second, and always free.
// honest by design
Every number has a source. Every plan shows its maths. Scan a barcode, read a label, snap a plate or just describe it, then see exactly where the figure came from.

Every number wears its source:
// the first thing you see
Before Clearo asks you a single question, it shows you what every entry looks like. Three sample foods resolve to their sources. No account, no camera permission, no network.
Other apps give one confident number for a photo a camera cannot read. Clearo tells you how sure it is, every time.
// every number shows its source
// sample data bundled with the app, exactly as the first screen shows it
// what you get
Most trackers blur a guess into a number. Clearo tells you which kind of number it is, and never pretends an estimate is a fact.

Point the camera at the nutrition panel. Clearo reads the per-100 g table properly, and other users confirm it.
No label? Photograph the meal for an honest range, marked with how sure Clearo is.
Tell Clearo what you ate, typed or spoken. It works out the rest and says so.
// saved meals and manual entry always work, and are always free
// verified labels
Read from the pack, agreed by other Clearo users. When two people photograph the same product and the numbers agree within 5%, it earns VERIFIED LABEL · 3 USERS. From then on everyone gets the pack's own figures, not a guess.
Every entry also carries a health score for the things you asked Clearo to watch: saturated fat, salt, fibre, sugar. Scored against your focus, not a generic one.
// shows its working
Tap any target and Clearo unfolds the equation behind it. If we can't justify a number, we don't show it.

// questions
No. Clearo builds your plan and lets you log without an account. After your first log you can add Sign in with Apple so your log follows you to any device. Until then it is saved to your phone as a guest.
A plate photo cannot be read exactly, so Clearo gives a range and says how sure it is. 78% is that confidence. A verified label or a database entry has no percentage because the figure came from the pack.
Less accurate than a label, and Clearo says so on every entry. The Today screen shows how much of your day came from verified labels, the database and estimates, so you can see when your total rests on guesses.
Nothing is charged, because no card was taken. The free tier continues forever with one AI scan a day, up to 10 saved meals and 14 days of history. Barcode and manual logging stay unlimited.
No. Without a Watch your target comes from the formula, shown in full. With one, a 7-day measured average replaces the activity multiplier, and the app caps the change at 15% from the formula so one odd week cannot swing your target.
In the EU, encrypted. It is never sold and never used to train anything. Label and plate photos are read by an AI provider and returned; they are not kept for training. You can export everything as CSV or delete your account from Settings. Details are in the privacy policy.
Yes. UK users get traffic lights, salt and stone; US users get Nutrition Facts, sodium and pounds. Barcode lookups use Open Food Facts, which covers both.
Yes. Clearo follows your iPhone's appearance setting, so it is light by day and dark at night if that is how your phone is set. The badges, the working and every number read the same in both.
